We are currently looking to fill the following position:
Embedded Software Engineer
Working within the Design Centre located in Plymouth, in this broad Embedded Software Engineer role you will contribute to the overall design of new embedded applications and platforms and to the modification and enhancement of existing designs. The Design Centre undertakes a variety of development work for a large and growing customer base and as such offers an exciting opportunity to work on an interesting and diverse range of projects.
The successful candidate must be well-versed in producing well structured, documented and maintainable code while adhering to appropriate quality standards. The role will also involve assisting in the quotation, planning and time management of existing and new projects. Ideally you will have at least five years commercial embedded systems software experience.
Essential skills and experience:
· Degree educated in a relevant engineering subject
· Full life cycle embedded software development experience in C, C++ and assembly
· Excellent high level design, coding, testing and troubleshooting skills
· Proven history of embedded code development for a variety of processors to a high quality and on time
· User interface design utilising displays, keypads, ‘touch’ inputs etc
· Experience of some or all of the following: USB, I2C, SPI, PWM, UARTS, ADC / DAC
· An appreciation and understanding of electronics hardware
· A self starter, well motivated and enthusiastic with creative problem solving skills
· Able to communicate and interact effectively with customers, the management team and other team members
Desirable skills and experience:
· GSM and GPS module interfacing and data handling
· Windows based application development
· A good understanding of closed-loop control theory and implementation
· RF protocols, Zigbee, Bluetooth, WIFI etc
· FPGA targeted VHDL programming
· Programming for low power designs
The above position is permanent.
Salary: Dependant on experience and qualifications
