New Assembly Line Reduces Manufacturing Times

April 2006

During March Patronics took delivery of significant new equipment which will enhance their production capacity and capability.

The major part of the new investment was the Juki FX 1R Chip Shooter, a high speed surface mount assembly machine capable of placing more than 20,000 components per hour. This addition to the plant list at Patronics more than doubles the placement capacity of the company and with additional changes to the factory layout production throughput through the surface mount operation has increased by between two hundred and four hundred percent.

Soon to be added to the surface mount area will be additional racking so that components can be held in close proximity to the machines further increasing the efficiency of the area. Discussions are also being held with material suppliers to increase the range of components and consumables supplied and held on consignment stock. The new Saho wave solder machine is due to be delivered at the end of April and will be installed during early May. This will allow Patronics to complete their lead free processing line ready for the introduction of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive which comes into effect on July 1st 2006.
