SmartVision to Replace Micross MRP

April 2006

Patronics International has appointed K3 Business Technology Group to supply and install a replacement MRP system which will bring materials management and planning up into the 21st Century and beyond. The older Micross system which Patronics users have grown to love and to hate has become difficult to use in a modern manufacturing environment and has shown to have a number of limitations. The new SmartVision system has been developed by K3 and benefits from being very similar in use to the older Micross MRP resulting in very little training. Data can be easily transferred to the new system with no loss of information and the system can generate vast arrays of reports.

The MRP Implementation Team consisting of representatives from every user group hopes to the have the system up and running by August of this year. Graham Meleady, IT Manager at Patronics said "There are many hardware considerations to be taken into account before we can implement the software. A new server and several upgraded workstations will need to be sourced in order to efficiently run the new software and we are very close to being able to order these". Currently an exercise is going on to list reports that are currently generated by Micross and additionally the end users are being asked for their wish list. The SmartVision system will further enhance the efficiency of the manufacturing process at Patronics and will be a welcome tool for users.
